Assorted birds from Bird Paradise

Kept the new 300 f/4 IS on my camera today and really focused on getting detailed shots of birds; portaits mainly. These were converted from RAW using DPP, sharpness set to 3 (standard). There was no other PP done on these, including no USM. The immature Turkey Buzzard is the only crop. Special thanks goes out to Ross and Trish for turning Isabella and me on to this place.

Wow...all of that straight out of the camera. Those are gorgeous photos Ian. I really love the #2 and 3, but all are exceptional photos.

Thanks, Thomas . It was a little tricky shooting these birds with a netting or fence in between. I'm actually very surprised (and happy, of course ) that they came out the way they did. What a great place to shoot!

We did have a good time . Too bad we weren't there longer, but it was a long day . The shear number and variety of birds there is amazing! And the size of that female eagle, wow! We'll be going back for sure. Thanks again Ross for inviting us .

Thanks, Jim. I think the last one I'm going to make a print of and give it to the folks over at the sanctuary. I wouldn't be the first to do that, but I think it's a good idea.
