Rash of Hardcore Spamming recently

Recently, We are experiencing a rash of pretty hard spamming here on the site. I try to get in to delete and ban the posts and the users but its an up hill battle on my part. There are soft ware programs out there one could download to use to help thwart the assulting spam bots and help keep them from getting through but It seems since I am not a Vbullitin key holder, I cannot join the site to download the software so.. I will try and kill what I can and the ones who get through will just have to be ignored untill I can get to them. At anyrate, in case any of the other admins or supermods come back for a visit, here are some of whats going on here:


anyone with a baiduspider-180-76-5-(xxx) .crawl.baidu.com ISPis a spammer..
The first 6 digits (180.76.5) is the isp for some place called Baidu in china.. thelast three digits are assigned to each seperate BOT, (i guess they all get differentnumbers at the end so you can't ban the ISP completely.

if anyone knows how to ban specific ISPs, let me know.... or how to set up registration so new users need to be "Accepted" by an "Admin" before they can post, so I have time to check them to see if they are previous spammers before allowing them to post here (which is now becoming the norm on V-bullitin forums around the world!!)

I also have been getting in and killing posts as I can... I did see the email Craig but its Mike that needs to deal with that update...
