The 40D looks like a sweet camera. I would love to move up to the 40D someday. I really don't see any use for live view but I bet it would be good for some people.
i just now got around to playing with those today, they are awesome!
i shoot mostly in AV mode so....
i set C3 for HDRs so i can try more....it goes into AV mode with auto bracketing for +/-2.
i set C2 for macros, it goes into AV mode and automaticly kicks on live view. i havent used live veiw much since its kind of a pain to scroll through the menus to turn it on, now i dont have to.
havent figured out what to set C1 for yet....

i havent used it much yet but i really think it'll be handy for macros that i would otherwise have to get into a odd position to see through the veiwfinder.....Originally Posted by oldnavy170

A guy here at work almost exclusively shoots macro and he's wanting to move up to the 40D just for the live view.... would make it a whole lot easier for him to frame his shots.

Another random note about the Live View thing....
I have it on my camera... and it's one of the many reasons I chose the cam I did...
I actually do not use live view NEARLY as much as I expected I would.... but, that having been said, I think it would drive me insane NOT to have it. It's a really nice feature.

while the live view subject....i just found out about a month ago that you can zoom in with it too....like a digital zoom except it doesnt get pixelated.
one use i found for it already is for the moon....longest lens i have right now is the 135mm so i can really get any decent shots, but with the live veiw zoom i can still fill the frame with it and get much better focus.....just kinda neat, lol.

ive been using live veiw a little more since i set this up. still dont use it as much as i thought i would, but it is nice to have it.
i just reread my post above too and i should explain....the live veiw zoom is just handy to help focus.
