    Great shot of the Pileated Woodpecker.
    It's not so much that they're rare it's more that they're very elusive staying mostly in the woods, and also very skitterish, doesn't take much to spook them. You did a great job getting that many shots off.
    As an aside if the bird looks at all familiar, it's because it's the model for Woody Woodpecker
