Pretty butterfly
Here are a couple butterfly's and a damselfly.
A few butterflys / moths. The last one is the elusive Karner Blue Butterfly (the only time I have seen it).
Baby Praying Mantis that is! 100's of them!! they were all over the bushes in the garden!! They are so tiny!
Just enjoying the necter of the coneflower
I believe this is called a Hummingbird Clearwing Moth. Taken a week or so ago on a Butterfly Bush. I am not really into insect, but lately I have taken a liking to Dragonfly's, and this moth was pretty interesting. I was pretty happy to get a in flight shot. 1. 2.
Is this what they mean by a flower bed. Caught this bumblebee early in the morning napping.
I was out shooting bugs this weekend and managed to get this dragon fly. Once I got it on the computer I was amazed at the detail in the eyes. This pic is basically off the camera except for a crop. I really like my macro lens, thanks Trish! :D
I got this one while at Greenwood Park yesterday. It was hang'in around our cooler and wouldn't leave. As you can see it became my best friend! :D Any idea as to what one it is?
White Moth on Pink Lady's Slipper wild flower.
Got a little lucky with this shot, wish it was a littler sharper though.
From our walk through Pennypack park yesterday.
I took this today while out riding the mountain bike. I like the fact the bee is straddling the flower and another plant and the center of the flower looks strange and interesting.
Yesterday I took Madison upto Magic Wings. I was only able to get a few shots in between chasing a 2 and a half year old.
Monarch Butterfly helping to spread pollen from one flower to the next as it flies around and lands on different wild flowers sipping nectar at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge on Friday 7-3-2009. Shot this from inside my car with the Sigma 50-500mm resting on the window opening.
Saw him on my way into the house tonight..
Some shots of a couple busy bees.
caught itself some lunch! And it wasn't going out without a fight. I had to manually focus because the 28-135 didn't want to focus for me. But it was neat to see them up close through the zoom:
Spotless ladybug Carrion beetle
Caught this bee working overtime to grab the last of the pollen before fall and the first killing frosts come. I did some playing with the image in Paint SHop making a second layer and applying Gaussian blur before merging at ~70 % opacity. I was trying to get the colors to come out a little bit...
