I've visited almost every one of these spots and found them to be very worthwhile. These are not your standard tourist spots - like the Public Garden - but rather spots that you might normally miss - like a fantastic shot of the Zakim bridge...
I make a habit of researching places which might provide a decent photo, and have been marking them down in Microsoft Streets & Trips. So far I have about 400 spots marked down. One of the things I've researched a bit is waterfalls, and I've collected about 50+ in New England that are photogenic...

The location of the Old Mill with water wheel is on Rte 57 just east of the center of Granville MA
Glendale Falls is located in the Berkshire Hills of Western MA in the town of Middlefield. Photography is easy from the many rocks around the falls. Be advised that the road to the falls is a dirt road and usually the falls are not accessible in the Spring.
