Hi Everyone,

The fall sports season has come to a close at MCLA and as things start to wind down I thought it would be a good time to share some shots from the last month or so.

Excellent job, Ian. You've captured athletes at peak of action with great facial expressions.

Thanks, Trish :) . I feel like my soccer shooting has gone down hill since I switched to a two camera system :( . I'm planning on buying a 120-300 f/2.8 zoom, hopefully before baseball season, and going back to a one camera system.

Thanks, Barry :) . As I said to Trish, I'm not liking the two camera system for field sports and am planning on getting a 120-300 f/2.8 zoom. I'm just missing too many shots as it stands now.

Thanks a lot, Chris :) . I like the IQ of the new lens, but I'm missing too many shots when it comes to switching cameras and framing the play. I'm planning on going back to a zoom.

Thanks, Mike. I was hoping someone would notice the vball pics. I only got to shoot them three times this season, so there wasn't a lot of time to remember all that I forgot from last season :) .

Ian, I pick my spots with the two camera system. My 2d body is a 30D in which I have little confidence for action shots. I use it for end zone shots when I know by 300 is going to be too long. So I have nothing to lose. Same with soccer. Maybe on set pieces when there is a stop in action, I switch.
Perhaps the 120-300 2.8 is the answer for you, I don't have any experience with that lens.

Monday night I shot a high school football game. Had the 300 2.8 on a monopod, the 70-200 2.8, including a flash and battery pack, on a 2d body over my shoulder. By the 2d half I had to lay the body with the 70-200 on the ground to ease my aching shoulder.
The 120-300 could be the answer for you. Have you used one before, Ian?

No, Barry, but I had a 100-300 f/4 before this and I really liked the zoom feature. I'm imagining that the 120-300 f/2.8 would be the same only heavier and faster. The heavier part I don't mind since it will be sitting on a monopod. Plus, with a one camera system, I don't have to rely on my 20D - I can use my 1DmkIIn exclusively :) . I think it would also be good for things like night football where it's probably be better to only have one camera/lens.
