I've been to Watkins Glen park several times... it's about a 5 hour hike all the way thru the gorge (depending on your fitness level, and how often you stop for pictures). It offers absolutely spectacular views. A nature photographers dream :)

Named in 2005 as one of Reserve America's Top Outdoor Locations and one of the Top 100 Campgrounds in the nation.
Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge.

Park is open year round.
Camping is available from early May to mid-October.
Depending on the weather, the gorge trail is closed from early November to mid-May.
