I bought a 580EX today. I am amazed at the simplicity of the thing. I was thinking that it was going to be hard to use at all. Granted I am probably the last one on the forum to get a flash :Hammer but anyways.

Nope, not the last... I still haven't invested in one. :blush

Most of my extra $$ goes into the house we bought last October.

Congrats on the new purchase! :rock

i dont have a flash yet either, but i may have to pick one up very soon with a possible job comming up. go for the house if you plan on being around the area for a while. 60k is pretty cheap if its a good place.

i'm shopping for a flash now as well. I'm looking at the 430ex because I just don't think I need the 580. However, I do need something. I've got a couple of things coming up in the near future and it's important I have it. Congrats on your new 580.

While we're talking about flashes, what's the difference between the EX and the EZ models?

I think you're doing great so far. what mess? LOL

Go for the house. We got our fixer upper with a nice chunk of land (about 11 acres) out in the country for 55k. No regrets. Paying less for a 15 yr mortgage than renting a decent house.

The cool thing about the 580EX and the 430EX, the 580 is a master strobe, and the 430EX can act as a slave strobe for another 430EX or the 580.

So you can do some cool strobe effects with the Slave settings, and the IR comunications.

Good choice on the 580!
