Hi All,

I am thinking of selling my beloved workhorse, the Sigma 100-300 f/4. This is a great "one camera solution" for daytime field sports. It takes a 1.4tc with barely any penalty to IQ, and at 420mm (on a 1.6x body) it can cover 90% of a soccer field and most of a baseball field. I've had this lens for ~14 months and have produced some fantastic pics with it. For specific examples please pm me.

The lens is in excellent condition both physically and optically. Only flaw is on the tripod mount ring - there is a slight strip of the first few threads, but it does not affect mounting to a tripod or monopod. It comes with the case, lens hood, original box and all original documentation including warranty card. I'm asking $725 +shipping to anywhere in CONUS. Will accept money order, cashier's check or paypal (you pay fee). I'd also be willing to meet and exchange for anyone within a reasonable distance :) .

This is an opportunity to get a fantastic lens at a great price!

Wow good deal on that lens... what are you replacing it with?

Want to add... Ian is a stand up guy... if there was a need I would buy this from him in a second...

I was interested and then you had Ross back you up. NEVERMIND :Neener

It is a great deal but unfortunately I've got a list of multiple hundred dollar items ahead of it. HAHA. Time to upgrade the phone first and foremost. Someone flip a coin between the Blackberry Curve and the IPhone.

Thanks for the good words, Ross :). I'm going to a two camera system for sports. I currently have the 70-200 f/2.8 for one body and I'd like to get the 300 f/2.8 for the other, but I dont know:confused: . I'll have that question better answered by the fall.

LOL, Jay! Thanks anyway. I kinda have mixed feelings about selling this one, but I foresee it sitting on a shelf when I get my new 300mm or 400mm prime :D . And I can't abide lenses sitting and not getting used.

Hey Ian can you do us a favor since I dont think most have ever even seen this lens... could you stack it next to the 70-200L so we can see the size of the lens?

Sure. I have the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, but I'll do it anyway :) .

While I've got the lenses out and they're good and clean, here's (left to right) the 100-300 f/4, 70-200 f/2.8 and the 180mm macro:

Instead of just a regular bump, I thought I'd try to make it interesting. The following are 100% crops. These of course were taken with the 100-300 and the first is at 300mm:

And this one is at 420mm (Sigma 1.4xtc added):

Oooooo...I wish I could. I'm pretty much committed to picking up a gently used Epson R2400 from a friend.
