Specific Gear and Settings:
35mm Camera (no MF or LF), High ISO film (color or b&w)

Contest Dates:
April 5th to April 30th, Entries must be made by May 5th (no later entries to be accepted)...images must be taken during the contest dates... we will put the contest to a vote by poll by members...

Ok... so here we go... to make it fun and not tooooo easy I decided to do something a little different for most...

The April Film Fun Contest is "Got Grain?"... For those that dont shoot film as much generally using the higher ISO films (over ISO800) can induce a bit of the rough stuff... so lets see it... but be creative... find something that would emphasize older photography and get some good practice in both using your 35mm camera and patience in waiting on the film return...LOL

Since this is film... its on the honor system... so please only submit images taken within the dates of the contest.

Here is an example...taken last year... not a submission...

cool. but im worried about Mike... He will obviously have alot of trouble waiting on his film to return as he demonstrated his utter lack of patience earlier this week!!
lol.lol.lol... J/K Mike!

So, anything over 800ISO should work? cool.

Yep I'm worried about me too... but not for returning film. ;)

I may have to pass on this one, but I'll see what I can do. I haven't used a film camera in a couple of years. As Ross knows, I bought and owned a medium format camera, including film, and I never even loaded film into it in nearly a year of ownership.

Ross,

What was the ISO rating of the film you used in that shot?

Also, can anyone recommend a good place to mail the film in for developing? For something like this, I don't want to be dropping it off at Wal-Mart.

The film in that shot was 35mm ISO3200 Ilford Delta Pro... not pushed or pulled... shot out of a Canon 1n-RS and Tamron 17-35/2.8-4

Wooohoooo!!!! Oooooh, am I loving this contest! I"m soooooooooo a film freak!!!! (no comments needed from the peanut gallery, lol)

I just want to clarify that by no MF and LF you mean medium format and large format? Some people say MF meaning manual focus so I just wanted to check incase anyone was confused.

As for developing......I have actually had mostly good luck with Walmart 1 hour (can't say much for my patience) and never had any bad luck with the Walmart mailout service. Unless you are using special film or doing medium format or something I would not worry too much since any place could make that mistake and screw up the role. I would just suggest that if you are doing the walmart one hour you make sure you don't drop it off if it seems really busy since those were teh only times i had problems with the developing.

Great! I"m pulling out the old Nikon FM and going shopping in the morning for film....course that means I have to try to find my way into the nearby town (i'm house-sitting this week for my friend from work and she lives in the middle of nowhere!) I have some pictures in mind but I need sunlight, so every pray for good weather tomorrow!!!

That's the fun part....not having a clue what you are going to shoot and just going out wandering with an open mind and clear head! That's why I love film so much....the excitement of looking for the shot and then the suspense until you get the developed pics to see if you actualy got the shot you were looking for. Well, we have sunshine here for now so I'm going to go and get dressed and hope it doesn't disappear in the mean time, lol.

well i went out. got on location and stuck the 17-40 on the camera (elan7) took a shot... then the batteries died.. luck for me, i had 5 new ones in my "box" and i changed em out, walked over to a bunch of Geese who were hanging out at the lake, took a couple shots and the roll was used up... i giggled to my self as i often do when my stress level starts to rise, so i went back to the car, yet again and stuck the Kodak 3200 B&W roll in and said to myself "Lets Rock" and I was off... after a bit, i wound up back home with only 10 more shots left so i decided id look for some interesting stuff in the yard, found some subjects then took 3 rolls to Walgreens and it will be ready by 2PM today!!!

generally speaking... if it isnt a C-41 process film places like Walmart, Walgreens and such wont touch them... I am not sure if they do E6 (slides) in house though... but regular black and white has to be dip-dunked... so that means a real lab...
