Well we finally made it home... it was a great day despite poor turn out. All in all we shot 6gb of JPG and just did our initial run through. Probably wont post too many up here as most of the shots will be for sale on our fotopic site... but heres a taste... just a tease...

Ross and I were invited to shoot for a Snocross event, hosted by N.E.S.R.A. ...the turnout wasnt great, due to the weather... but there was still plenty of action, and a good opportunity for us to make some contacts on the Snocross scene... here's a couple of my shots from today...

great shots, wish i could get an invite to do that, i tried getting into rock maple but they only allow their 1 photographer. i guess i will just have to go and pay and shoot from the normal spectator areas

I LOVE snocross!!! :rock

We didn't make it to the one at Vernon Downs in Vernon, NY this year because we had a kids' thing to attend. bummer.

Great shots Ross and Trish... I'll check out the rest when I get a change. ;)

I used it for the last moto... and used my 70-200L for the first couple... I am still a little gunshy on the 200/1.8L since I have never shot sleds/bikes etc with a prime... but it worked out well...

Its funny, I actually struggle if I use a zoom for action. I find that I'm busy trying to zoom and end up missing the action... where as with a prime I have a small window of frame filled action so I concentrate on getting that composed and shot. I'm sure you adapt to whatever you use the most, but I prefer primes. Even if I use a zoom, I find myself usually setting it to a focal length and leaving it alone.

Did you use the 200 with a TC, or by itself? For outdoor work, I usually use a TC on it... or I would just bring the 70-200 f/2.8 IS instead (which completely contradicts what I just said)... lol.

there was no way to use the TC... my working range really was from 70-200 area.. which kept me honest with the 70-200L .. the 200/1.8L I really had to plan my shots better... and of course with infield access I had some good direct on shots.. but as they come over a jump its a crapshoot to be in the right place as you couldnt see them... but it did a great job...
