This is the domain of Canon's 200mm f/1.8 L lens. Without this lens or strobes, there would be no pictures from this game... short and simple. How's this for a dim gymnasium... ISO3200, f/1.8, 1/320s. My daughter's team played a tournament today at Troy High School... in their just remodeled gym. I was hoping it would have been brighter, but it was pretty tricky. There are windows up top that were letting bright sun in until the sun went down... then we had this. I got more light with the sun, but it was very hard to control as it varied wildly around the court. I just wanted to do a thread with a couple of shots at the low end of the light pool. They were done with a 1DMk2N

Good work, Mike, esp in such crappy conditions. You've got your timing down ;).

Wow, thats surprising for a "remodeled" gym...you would think they would have done something about the low lighting....do they think people don't need to see to play sports after the sun goes down?

Great job getting around it though, those pics came out very clear!

Guys... the 20D/30D are at least as good as the 1DMk2N at high ISO... so you too can do this!
