View Full Version : Caught! My daughter getting caught with the hand over the net

In volleyball, you can't play the ball over the net. I caught a shot of her slipping her hand over, and also the reaction on her face as the official gave the point to the opposing team. They won the game though, and have clinched the league championship with an undefeated season. Today they are playing in a tournament with schools from a couple of divisions higher, so it will be good prep for them as they go into the sectional tournament as a top seed.

Both with Canon 1DMk2N and 135mm f/2 L. Custom WB from Expodisc, Manual, 1/400s, f/2, ISO1600.

Nice shots, and *great* expression!

This must be tough in low light. One day I'll have to give it a shot to see if I can cut it.

The lighting is very tough in that gym, but today I found one a lot worse. I shot a whole tournament there, so I'll be posting some shots from it over the next day or two. I used the 200 f/1.8 @ f/1.8... and ISO3200... to get 1/320s shutter speed. And that was under exposed a little. That is one dark gym!

With that lighting those are some GREAT shots. Not only the composition but the timing and expression far outway the challanged lighting you were shooting in.. nice work

Good shots as always, Mike :). Your daughter looks like she's very competitive ;).

On a side note: It must be nice to follow an undefeated team. The college I shoot is a Div 3 college and a Liberal Arts College at that! Nobody, I repeat, Nobody is coming to this school for its athletic prowess. Still, it's fun.
