Back in August of 1991 my sister & spent a month in Greece. Didn't want to bring the SLR outfit (Minolta XE-5 and a couple lenses), so I only brought my parent's Canon SureShot point & shoot. Found a couple PhotoCDs where I had about half of the negatives scanned back in 1993. Here's a few select ones from the trip:

The Tomb of the Unknowns in Athens:

The Parthenon:

Looking down at one of the amphitheaters from the top of the Acropolis in Athens:

And of course, I needed to get a bit creative. :D An unorthodox self portrait in front of the Parthenon.

Thanks guys!

I wish I brought the Minolta kit along, but didn't have room in the luggage. Needed to pack small, and I also shot video. If you look closely at the self-portrait, you'll see a JVC VHS-C camcorder slung over my shoulder. Talk about a photo geek - shooting stills and video! :D If I can find the tapes, I might try to do a few screen caps.

As for Greece itself - it was an incredible time! The best part is we only had to pay for our airfare over there and back home. We took part in a program the Greek government sponsors that invites Greek children from around the world to tour the country, getting firsthand experience of our heritage. There were 2 tours - one on the mainland and one of the islands. We took the island tour. Started in Athens then flew out to Rhodes and took ferries and hydroplanes north to islands like Kos, Mitilini (great ouzo!), Simi, Samos, Chios, Lesvos and a couple others, then we flew back to Athens where we stayed with my mother's aunt & uncle for a few days before heading back home. And the entire month we were there, it was cloudy once - at night! Didn't rain once, and it was about 90*F, but with a constant cool sea breeze, so it felt like 80 or so. Great time...
