I read about this Mini Light Panel in my Popular Photography magazine. It actually fits into the hot shoe of your camera. I think this is pretty cool.

hmm, interesting idea, that would be a great little portable light if it has a tripod mount as well!

i dont see where its for still cams...only video.. it would have to have its own power supply as the hot shoe is only powered upon flash.. and these look more like a "hot" light.. nice setups though.

Well once you go to the Micro page then at the bottom click on more info and thats where it talks about the camera. I tried to link that page but no matter where you are on the website it only links you back to the main page........kinda strange.

The light is a on/off switch light... it has nothing to do with the flash mechanism so the hotshoe is more or less just to hold it... but nothing to do with the actual usage...

Your right, it runs on 4 AA batteries. Thanks for helping to explain it. :)

Hmmmm tough choice here, lets see $295 for the light $10 for a flash light and some duct tape. Have to think this one over. :D :D

The cheaper option sounds more appealing... andddd a pic of the rig would make for a good shot, too... *giggle*

Zacker, there is nothing different about lighting for video or lighting for stills. Video is just a bunch of still images in succession. You wouldn't usually use strobe type lighting for video, but hot lights should be usable in either case. Just to emphasize the video vs. still being similar point even more, notice that any movie you watch they will list in credits (usually in big letters) the Director of Photography. I always thought that was odd, so did a little research. This role is the person responsible for filming... selecting lenses, lighting, composition, ect. It is all video instead of stills, but the role is the same. Selecting the aperture for blurring the background... deciding where to place the lights for effect... etc. Its still photography.
