My DP1 arrived today.
It is a very well made little camera.
It will take me a little bit to learn how to make it sing.
I've only had a chance to take a small number of shots today. Already, I can tell I'm going to love it!

Here's a couple of quick shots from today:

cool... how do you like the fixed focal length? looks like a neat little cam.. I wonder why they chose not to give it a zoom?

When I started with SLRs about 30 years ago, I shot primarily with a fixed focal length. There are some things you have to do differently and think about. That's okay with me.

As to why there isn't a zoom on it...
Sigma's goal was to have the camera as small as possible with the best quality glass they could design. Due to the APS-C sized sensor and the needed geometries, the had to stick with a prime to keep the camera's size down.

Now there are rumors they are working on the designs for the next one or two DP models. Perhaps one of them would have zoom. I'll keep the one I have however :)

You could if you were wearing baggy pants. I tried in dress pants and it fit but it would have put me at risk for sexual harassment ;^)

It certainly lives comfortably in a jacket pocket.

I just googled this to check it out... very interesting camera... I am not so much a fan of Rangefinders but this seems a happy medium... strangely I think it would be fun to have a fixed focal length...

I'm actually really liking the fixed FL. It is forcing me to think more.

Up to this point most of the shots have been quick snaps. This weekend I hope to spend more time working on good composition and subjects.

Here's a couple more photos from today:
