Canandaigua Lake is the fourth largest of the Finger Lakes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finger_Lakes), in the U.S. state (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._state) of New York (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York). It is called the "Chosen Spot" in the one of the languages of the Iroquois (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iroquois). The city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City) of Canandaigua (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canandaigua_%28city%29%2C_New_York) is located at the northern shore of the lake and the village of Naples (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naples_%28village%29%2C_New_York) is just a few miles south of the southern end. Travelling west to east in the Finger Lakes region, it is the first of the major, or larger Finger Lakes (or coming from east to west, it is the last major Finger Lake).
